Batik Day

Today, October 2nd 2009, every Indonesian is advised to wear batik to welcome the recognition of batik by UNESCO. I, personally, didn't wear batik today, because I am in my boyfriend's place, in Berlin and I didn't bring any batik clothes with me.

I am very happy and supportive for those of you who are wearing batik today, but one thing that came across in my mind is why we are so focused on wearing batik that's technically our culture just today? What about tomorrow or the day after tomorrow? Would you just forget about it?

We should remember to always be proud of it and most importantly wear you best attitude to show the world that being Indonesian is not a shameful thing, because some people do feel embarrassed to be Indonesians.
